Baptism

The Sacrament of Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, making us sons and daughters of God and members of the Body of Christ and freeing us from sin. Through Baptism, we are welcomed into the Catholic Church, the community of faith. When we are baptized, the Holy Spirit comes to live in us. Baptism enables us to receive the other sacraments and to grow in the life of the Risen Christ. 

The process for baptism at St. Isaac Jogues is as follows:

  1. Read through the FAQ's below and make sure you are ready to fill out the request for Baptism form
  2. Fill out the request for Baptism form below and hit submit
  3. Our Parish is using an online Baptismal preparation resource called 'Belonging', which you can complete from the comfort of your home. Once you've submitted the request form we will send you a link.
  4. Once you have completed the online course we will arrange a time for you to meet with one of our parish Priests for a conversation and book a date for your baptism.
  5. Please note that in order to be baptized at St. Isaac's you have to belong to our Parish Community. Please review the FAQ's for more details on what it means to belong to our parish.

We are looking forward to baptizing your child. Please fill out the form below and upload the Catholic baptismal certificates of at least one of the parents. If you were baptized at St. Isaac's please indicate this to us in the notes and we will retrieve your baptismal certificate. You should receive an email from us shortly outlining the next steps.

    The Eligibility of Godparent(s):

    Canon 873 There is to be only one male godparent or one female godparent or one of each.
    The following are the requirements in order for a Catholic to be a godparent (canon 874 §1):

    • at least 16 years of age
    • fully initiated in the Catholic Church (received Baptism, Holy Communion, and Confirmation)
    • in good standing with the Catholic Church
    • living a life of faith which befits the role to be undertaken
    • not under canonical penalty
    • not the father or mother of the one to be baptized.

    In order for a non-Catholic to be a godparent, there must be at least one Catholic godparent. The non-Catholic godparent must be Baptized in another Christian faith (i.e. Anglican, Baptist, United, Greek Orthodox, etc.)
