Become an RCIA Sponsor
More and more often, those seeking to enter the Catholic Church through RCIA are doing so without a practicing Catholic in their lives to accompany them on their journey of faith.
Serving as an RCIA sponsor is a meaningful opportunity to walk alongside someone as they prepare to receive the sacraments and become fully initiated into the Church. To help meet this growing need, we are creating a roster of parishioners who are willing to serve as sponsors when a suitable match arises.
What is an RCIA sponsor?
An RCIA sponsor is a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church who accompanies a candidate throughout their RCIA journey and continues to encourage them as they grow in faith after entering the Church.
Sponsors must:
- Be at least 16 years of age.
- Be a fully initiated Catholic (having received Baptism, Holy Communion, and Confirmation).
- Be actively practicing the Catholic faith.
- Be willing to support, encourage, and pray for their candidate throughout the RCIA process and beyond.
You do not need to attend all RCIA sessions, but developing a relationship with your candidate is important. If we have a match for you, we will reach out to confirm that you are still able to assist before any introductions are made with the candidate.
Interested in becoming a sponsor?
If you feel called to this ministry, we invite you to complete the form below. Your responses will help us prayerfully match candidates with sponsors whose personalities, experiences, and interests may be a good fit. Please note that being added to the sponsor roster does not guarantee that you will be matched with a candidate each year. Matches will be made as needs arise.Thank you for your willingness to share your faith and accompany others as they take this important step in their journey with Christ!
